Tasmanian Heritage

Marchwiel is of historic heritage significance because of its ability to demonstrate the principal characteristics of a Victorian Farm complex comprising a range of building types typical of the period .

The site consists of a main house, two early slab huts, an early blacksmiths shop and a shearing shed. The main house comprises two sections, the original c.1850 section and a c.1905 addition. The early part of the house is of sandstone construction with a hipped roof and dormer windows. The later section is weatherboard.
